Accommodation and Groups Spaces

Our facilities include the Hall Barn, which is a large group space; Ash Barn, Alder Barn and Rowan Cabin that provide self-contained accommodation and small group spaces. The Studio is a unit with four small single bedrooms and another group space and/or group dining room. In addition we have a natural swimming pond, a bog pond, tea house for meditation, utility and car parking area, all set in ten acres of cultivated and wild gardens and fields.

The Hall Barn

The Hall Barn has a  main hall room of 4.8 metres x 9.6 metres, with three large double doors – opening onto a hard-standing forecourt and decking to the rear. There is a smaller upstairs group room. Downstairs it also has a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering and refreshments, a shower wet room (suitable for wheelchair access) with hand basin and toilet. There are two additional heated wet-rooms with showers, toilets and washbasins accessed from outside, at the rear of the Hall Barn. The building is wood and solar fuelled for  heating and hot water

Ash Barn

Ash Barn is a timber frame construction with high insulation values, photovoltaic panels to generate electricity and solar thermal panels to produce hot water. There is also a wood burner that contributes to the water heating as well as heating the accommodation. The downstairs bedrooms also have electric heaters. Ash is attached to Alder Barn.

It is accessed from the parking area, via decking, into Ash sitting room which also can be used as a breakout space for small groups.   This is an open plan space that includes a fully fitted kitchen and dining area where residents of Ash can have their breakfast.

The two lower twin bedrooms can be accessed internally from the sitting room or via external doors leading from a garden.  The crog loft twin bedroom is situated above the sitting room. It is accessed via a wooden loft staircase with handrails. The shower room also has toilet and wash basin, with heated towel rail.

Alder Barn

Alder Barn is connected to Ash Barn. It is accessed from the parking area via decking  into the open plan sitting  room which can be used as a small breakout space for larger groups. This is an open plan space that includes a fully fitted kitchen and dining area where residents of Alder can have their breakfast.

The lower bedroom can be accessed from the sitting room internally or via  an external door leading from the main walkway. It has twin beds and electric heating. The crog loft single bedroom is situated above the sitting room. It is accessed via a wooden loft staircase with handrails.

Rowan Cabin

Rowan Cabin is a neighbour of Alder and Ash Barns. The entrance is from the decking walkway and stone path into an open plan dining and sitting room with fitted kitchen and wood burning stove.

This compact space sleeps two participants in two bedrooms. Bedroom one has a small 4ft double bed  and  bedroom two has a 4ft 6 double bed. The bathroom has a low level shower enclosure, toilet and small basin.

The Studio

The Studio has a sitting, dining and a refreshment preparation area with a wood burning stove on the ground floor. It can also be used as a group space  for craft and art workshops; it has a wet room, toilet and basin on this floor.  Upstairs, there are four single bedrooms with opening roof lights.

We provide sheets, towels,  environmentally friendly shampoo and cleaning materials in all our accommodation.  In managing our waste well, we aim to minimise harm to the local environment and safeguard the land.

The Roundhouse

The Roundhouse is a twelve sided structure for group activities that can be used for meditation, yoga, movement and singing

The Natural Swimming Pond, Bog Pond and Tea House

In 2014 we decided to transform the old drainage pond into an area for contemplation, inspiration  and enjoyment, with the construction of a natural swimming pond. The pond is filled from groundwater and  is kept clean without the use of chemicals, using a series of pumps and gravel filters. It has a swimming zone 10 metres by 4 metres and is about 1.80 metres deep. It is fenced and gated for safety.

We have been planting up a regeneration zone in the stone shallows to help maintain the quality of the water. This has successfully attracted a diverse range of wildlife from damsel flies to water boatmen and of course seasonally a great variety of newts and frogs. There are a number of quiet areas for individuals or groups to use, next to the water.

The Bog Pond is smaller pond, purely for wild life, that you will find if you follow the brook. It also attracts a diversity of creatures, both in and out of the water. Again it is a quiet place to reflect. It is situated next to the bridge which takes you to the Tea House, a small meditation space.

Car Parking

The car parking area can accommodate up to ten cars in a ‘sardine’ formation. All buildings are accessed by decking walkways and paths from the parking area. The verges on the lane are mowed and available for parking, if individuals need to use their car during an event.
